Notes on sources of information

The most authoritative information comes from the Eighth Report of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) which was published in 2005. Additional, new information may be sourced from the ICTVdB website and newly approved virus descriptions that appear in the Virology Division News (VDN) section of the journal Archives of Virology. We also aim to regularly scan the scientific literature for details of new research on these viruses.
We provide a link to the website of the Description of Plant Viruses which is published by the Association of Applied Biologists and collates information on all plant viruses and is continuously updated.
There is a further link to the VIDE (Virus Identification Data Exchange) project. This web site provides much useful information on the host ranges of different viruses, however, you should be aware that this database has not been kept fully up to date, and some information may not agree with current ICTV data.
Lastly, a large amount of useful information can be found in Handbook Number 631, published by the United States Department of Agriculture (Virus Diseases of Small Fruits. 1987. Edited by R.H. Converse).
